2020 Urban Visionary Awards

The Center for Urban Families (CFUF) strengthens urban communities by helping fathers and families achieve stability and economic success. Since 1999, we have supported low-income families through workforce training and placement, reconnecting families, and dismantling systemic barriers to increase access to opportunity.

CFUF is proud to present the 2020 Urban Visionary Awards, again recognizing local and national trailblazers who are working to create lasting change in urban communities. Led by chairs Ed and Ellen Bernard, this signature awards reception and dinner brings together 500 thought leaders, social innovators, philanthropists, and business and community partners.

This year, we celebrate The Year of the Father: Understanding Challenges and Lifting Up Promise. We will be honoring Jessica & Jerry Seinfeld and Congressman Danny K. Davis for their collective and respective lasting commitments to strengthening fathers and families.

Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld lead the Good+Foundation, a national nonprofit dismantling multi-generational poverty by pairing tangible goods with innovative services for low-income fathers, mothers, and caregivers to create an upward trajectory for the whole family. Like CFUF, Good+ intentionally includes fathers, as strong fathers build strong, resilient families which are the backbone of thriving communities. The more we invest in fathers, the greater the impact we can see for children and families. Friends of CFUF since 2015, Jessica and Jerry have opened doors for fatherhood initiatives nationwide, for our organization, and – most importantly – for our own dads, who have been provided countless opportunities to connect with their children with the gracious support and guidance of Jessica and Jerry.

US Congressman Danny K. Davis represents Illinois' 7th District, including parts of Chicago, Forest Park, and Westchester, and he has maintained an unwavering focus on fatherhood, having introduced several pieces of legislation for responsible fatherhood and healthy family relationships. Congressman Davis has advocated to increase the economic mobility of parents, partially through maintaining positive, healthy relationships and active participation in parenting.
